Keno Game Rules for Family Fun

Rules for Keno for Kicks (Family Fun Edition)

 The Goal:

Collect the most tokens or money to win!

Setup:

  1. Block four pockets—the ones not touching the Keno board.
  2. Rack the balls in a triangle like in standard pool
  3. Each player randomly draws a numbered tally pea from the pill jar. Keep your number secret!

 How to Play Billiard Keno

1.     Set the Stakes:

    • Decide on a dollar amount for each game, or play for fun using tokens if you prefer not to gamble.

2.     Rack the Balls:

    • Arrange the balls using the basic pool setup.

3.     Choose a Player to Break:

    • Select a player to take the first shot.

4.     Position the Cue Ball:

    • Place the cue ball anywhere within the kitchen (behind the headstring) in front of the Keno board.

5.     Break the Rack:

    • The first player breaks the balls.
    • If no balls land on the Keno board, then it is the next player’s turn.

6.     Take Turns Shooting:

    • Cue ball remains in place from previous shot.
    • Next player takes turn aiming to sink a ball into the hole that matches his/her drawn pea number.

7.     Maintain Your Turn:

    • A player continues shooting until they fail to land a ball on the Keno board.
    • Once a player misses, the turn passes to the next player.

 Scoring & Rules

·       Matching Your Pea Number: If your ball lands in the hole that matches your drawn pea number, every player pays you either in tokens or the agreed-upon money amount. (Tokens available at KenoPoolGame.com)

·       Landing in Another Player’s Number Hole: If your shot lands in a hole that matches another player’s pea number, the matching numbered pea holder is paid by everyone.

·       Keno Hole Bonus: If your shot lands in the Keno hole, you win the hand instantly, and all players pay you.

·       Double Keno Bonus: If your shot lands in the Double Keno hole, all players pay you double.

·       Exact Match Bonus: If a ball lands in a hole that matches the number on the ball itself, the shooter automatically wins—unless another player holds that pea number.

o   If another player has the pea, that player wins instead.

o   (Example: The 7-ball lands in hole #7—the player with the 7-pea wins)

·       Multiple Balls on the Board in One Shot: If two balls land on the Keno board in the same shot, the shooter chooses one ball to remove. The removed ball is placed at the Foot Spot.

·       Rolling Ball Rule: If an existing ball is struck and rolls onto a different hole, the new hole’s pea owner wins.

o   If no one holds the corresponding pea, the shooter continues their turn.

o   If a shot causes an existing ball to move to a new hole while the shot ball remains on the board, the new shot is removed and placed at the Foot Spot.

 Game End Conditions

The game ends when any of the following occur:

  • A ball lands on a pea holder’s number.
  • A pool ball lands in a hole that matches its own number.
  • A ball lands in the Keno hole or Double Keno hole.

The balls are racked to start the next game. New peas are drawn.
